This is an assignment I had to do for Design class. Taking a base image, I chose the picture of a close up of Matt's guitar because it was chrome, and a texture image, I did a stone wall. The chrome and stone wall have contrasting textures, so thats why I did that. And then I started illustrating it basically. I used layers and all that cool stuff. I ended up using around 110 layers (of course I didn't leave them all there for the whole time, I merged visible quite a bit.) I'm not sure if this will be the complete thing, but I'm looking more towards that...

Yes, 110 layers sounds awful, but once you start working, you keep going and going and it just gets away from you.
I don't think I've ever used that many layers, but I certainly abuse the layer tool... (When I remember to stay on the correct layer
